Shadow Creek Ramblers
Shadow Creek Ramblers is definitely originated in 2008. The initial concept is made by the sisters Hanneke and Sanne Vinke. These two musicians already gave expression to an extraordinarily country repertoire during several years. In November 2007 they went to Southern Germany in order to join the Country Music Award (CMA). They participated as a couple by the name 2-CATCH and won the 2nd price out of a field of over 35 contestants. It is obvious that the two sisters got the taste of it.
“Koninginnedag 2008”.
The two girls where asked to perform on “Koninginnedag 2008” in Nieuw- Amsterdam (Drenthe).
They thought they needed some more power for such a performance and decided to invite some more musicians to play with them that day.
This led a few month later to the creation of “The Occasionals” nowadays known as Shadow Creek Ramblers (SCR).
Guitar-player Olf Meijering was a friend of the two ladies and had already performed a couple of times with them.
Drummer Richard Zwiers and bass-player Jan van der Veen also played several times with them, so it was obvious to invite them too for this gig.
Meanwhile the girls had met singer/songwriter Margaretha Kleine and had some performances together with her, their music and their voices matched so well that 2-CATCH did not hesitate to ask her as well to join the band.
Country Music Award 2008.
Because the atmosphere and the chemistry between these 6 musicians was so good, the idea was quickly born to join the CMA in 2008 all together. 2-CATCH, who already participated before, made them all very enthusiastic. In a word: Shadow Creek Ramblers came, saw and conquered the 1st price in the category “New Comer Band”!
Festival performanceDelighted after this triumph the band decides to continue and mostly focus on acting abroad. This resulted in a performance in June 2009 on the “Wiener Donauinselfest” (Austria).
This three days’ festival is the largest of several free festivals in Europe and is since over 20 years visited by more then 3 million people. SCR is going to perform on the country stage and will be the final act on Saturday the 27th of June.
During the days before and after this festival, SCR will make a tour in Austria and Germany. This tour is called “Rovestone Tour 2009”.
SCR indeed is a country band.
But don’t be misguided by the sometimes corny meaning of the word “country”. SCR plays country music in such an authentic way which makes it the power of the band.
The characteristic way of which Olf Meijering plays his guitar and the magnificent community singing of the singers Sanne, Hanneke and Margaretha will leave an
everlasting impression!
